Founded in 2015, the South Carolina Rose Center’s main goal is to promote camaraderie among the South Carolina Irish community, and to foster positive friendships and connections among women of Irish descent.

The South Carolina Rose Center does not discriminate along racial, religious, or lifestyle lines: the main requirement for participation is appreciation for one’s Irish heritage.

Beyond selecting a Rose to represent the South Carolina Irish community at the Rose of Tralee International Festival in Ireland, we are also on a mission to create a unique, state-wide network of Irish and Irish-American women. This network exists as a friend group, a support system, and an Irish home in South Carolina for our members.

Michael O'Driscoll
Founder, Honorary President

The South Carolina Rose Center would have never been founded without the many contributions of Mr. Michael O’Driscoll – a native of Tralee, Co. Kerry, Ireland – and his family, who have been involved with the Rose of Tralee International Festival for more than 30 years.

Michael began his involvement with the Rose of Tralee International Festival in 1986 with the Boston and New England Rose Center. Upon his relocation to Myrtle Beach, SC, in 2014, Michael was inspired to continue the tradition of the Rose of Tralee International Festival down South, and thus the South Carolina Rose Center was born!

Michael and his wife, Kay, have been two of the most enthusiastic supporters of the Rose of Tralee, and the South Carolina Center is grateful to have him as our Honorary President.
